Yet another Acer Aspire One
When ASUS released the EEE only one model was initially available. ASUS, probably drunk with the success of the EEE, released many additional models in the following months, which only led to growing confusion among consumers. At about the same time Acer stepped into the netbook market and released the Aspire One in form of a single model with just a few configuration options. It was one of the many reasons why the AA1 became the #1 netbook. Now, as you can see in the pictures below, Acer is about to release yet another model of the Aspire One. There might be a pattern here.

It looks very much like the just released D150, so you probably wouldn't even notice that it's a new model. The most noteable changes are a completely different motherboard layout, evident in the rearrangement of all ports, and a few minor design improvements. It's also slimmer with a height of only 26 millimeters. You can use the dimensions and pictures of the D150 posted in a previous post for comparison. The technical specifications remain unchanged. And despite being what appears to be only a minor revision Acer will increase the model number to D250 for the HDD configuration.

I was looking at installing PySol on the AA1 only to find it is already there but is not in the "Fun - Play" section of desktop. Could you tell me how to add it please?

Love this site, keep up the good work.

If you will notice on the close up picture of the keyboard, down by the light for turning on and off the wireless is another LED light labeled 3G.

OK so is that it - no more support / comments for us 8.9" users. Love my Aspire One but may have to install Ubuntu...

That's it for Acer and Linux: we will never ever see a new Aspire One with linux, I guess.
I just got a new A110L as a present for a child and, guess what? The Windows XP upgrade kit (licence, boot pendrive and 4GB class 6 SD as disk expansion) is already within the box. I guess they experienced too many complains/returns from dumb persons who only know how to use windows (and, of course, only use it to run a browser, make a word document and all the other things you can actually do with linpus without even the need to "unlock" it).

I'm confused. This looks like the black 10.1 just released - except for the ports. And the February 24 post shows yet another mystery model. How many unreleased mystery machines are lurking now?

@George

Much more than you think, and thankfully a lot more than Macles has been able to leak here ;-)

Can you say "upward spiral"?

Today i got one D250 for 299 Euro (about 390 Dollar but the US-Currency is low rated today).
It is a decent machine, quiet, but i dont mention big differences between this and other "igotanatomprocessor1gbramanda160gbharddriveinit-Netbook".
Was the best buy today for its price.

Now i look online for a description on how to save the recovery-partition to an usb flashdrive instead of DVDs.
After this, i try linpus on the new AAO D250 ... or something familiar.

Oh and by the way:
There is only a 60-day MS-Office 2007 preinstalled.
You can unlock it if you buy a registration code or type in a code from a retail package of office 2007.
For free, you can add OpenOffice to this and uninstall MS Office 2007.

I bought this netbook. Also I've installed 2GB of RAM. I've installed win xp professional, windows server 2003 enterprise, redhat linux enterprise 5. Everything works fine. Only problem I found is that there is no display driver for windows server 2003. so display looks a bit ugly in windows server 2003. I checked intel's website and found they didn't release vga driver for 945 chipset. so it's not a fault of acer. I'm really happy and satisfied after buying this netbook.
